    Transforming Lives, Strengthening Community
    Assistance League volunteers transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. When essential needs are met in our com- munity, families flourish. Assistance League of Bend is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization making a difference in the lives of children and adults dealing with poverty, homelessness and cancer in Bend, Redmond, La Pine and Sisters. Through Operation School Bell, our signature program, over 2,000 students in need receive new school clothes each year. All money raised in Deschutes County is used in the community.

    MISSION STATEMENT

    Assistance League® of Bend has served Deschutes County, Oregon since 1989. It is one of 120 chapters of Assistance League, a national organization with chapters in 27 states. The chapter is an all-volunteer with no paid employees. All funds raised in the community, stay in the community.

    In fiscal year 2016 – 2017, 137 dedicated chapter members:

    • Touched the lives of more than 5,600 neighbors in need • Volunteered over 18,000 hours to multiple philanthropic programs valued at over $450,000 • Returned over $260,000 to the community • Provided new school clothing to more than 2,000 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. • Donated over 1,700 handmade hats for cancer patients, the homeless, and low income children • Provided personal care items to 1,400 low income seniors in local care facilities, and donated holiday gifts to nearly 300 seniors in need. • Served Breakfast with Santa to nearly 300 community members including foster children and foster families. • Rewarded 40 at-risk teens from the alternative high school for improved and outstanding school. attendance with restaurant gift cards • Created and distributed 95 memory books for foster children to store photos, school records and personal thoughts

    MISSION STATEMENT

    Helping Victims Become Survivors:Providing comprehensive case management and crisis intervention, assisting in creating safety plans, as well as offering much needed emotional support to survivors of sex and labor trafficking. Our case managers also work with survivors to access community resources such as psychological counseling, medical care, emergency housing, transportation, and academic needs. We coordinate the Deschutes County Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) Response Team, the group responsible for responding to cases of human trafficking in Central Oregon.
